Just Thinking...

I've been thinking of "disabilities" of all sorts.  I think I've finally got it figured out for myself.  The only disability I can think of is the inability to keep an open mind.  Disabilities don't really keep us from doing much they just keep us on our toes! "Disabilities" always keep us learning. We do things in our own way and that is perfectly fine with me  The fact that we can do things differently is amazingly wonderful in my opinion. There is no way that I'd rather be anyone but myself.  People walk, talk, think, understand, and hear differently than you do, I say oh well!  Our anatomy makes us all human, but our differences make us individual people.  Good Night all!

Something I Plan to do Each Summer from Now On

So as some of you know I will be leaving for Virginia in just a few days.  I decided to make the trip a few months ago sort of on a whim to see if I could save up enough.  The tickets are paid for, the days are approved, and the spending money is saved up.  I'm ready to go! Then, I got to thinking "man, what if I could save up money each year and go somewhere I've never been", now that would be awesome!  I've decided that I am (in my UQ's words) going to keep paying myself.  I will from now on be  taking trips each year to wherever I feel like going!:)

Facebook

Okay so here it is, I am so tired of seeing the ignorance, bigotry, hatred, and the simple stupidity of some people. I am cleaning out my Facebook. You claim to be a Christian but still you spread HATRED instead of LOVE and UNDERSTANDING. We as people are to be judged by our own higher power it isn't the place of our peers to pass judgement upon us. Family & and friends alike if you spend your time posting negative things and putting others down with your hatred and immaturity I will no longer subject myself to it. I do and will forever stand for the rights of all oppressed people. EQUALITY FOR ALL!

R.I.P

So, Yesterday was your birthday and I really didn't think of you much.  Your chair is gone, but sometimes you are still here.  I like to think that the reason I don't miss you so often anymore is because you've crossed from this world to the next.  You were never perfect, but you were who you were.  Without you there would be no me.  You were at your best 'grandpa' wise for the last few years that you lived with us.  I have good memories from that time and I will hold on to those.  I love you grandpa!

To Teach or To Tell

So, today is National Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day! Woohoo! It's strange, but even I have a hard time asking people who are different from me what makes them so. This month I've learned that I should ask people questions about their differences the same way I would like to be asked about mine...with kindness and curiosity. I find that most people ask about my disability or why I walk the way I do because they don't know, but they would like to. I feel that we the disABLED should take it upon ourselves as the truly gifted individuals we are to TEACH the world of us instead of just TELLING. The only way one can learn is to ask the hard questions and seek the answers. As you speak to a person who is ignorant (uneducated) of the facts you must take the time to TEACH them those facts; we shouldn't just assume that they know them.
