"I am medically diagnosed as disabled, but whatever my label I am and will be whatever I choose to be".

Just Thinking...
I've been thinking of "disabilities" of all sorts. I think I've finally got it figured out for myself. The only disability I can think of is the inability to keep an open mind. Disabilities don't really keep us from doing much they just keep us on our toes! "Disabilities" always keep us learning. We do things in our own way and that is perfectly fine with me The fact that we can do things differently is amazingly wonderful in my opinion. There is no way that I'd rather be anyone but myself. People walk, talk, think, understand, and hear differently than you do, I say oh well! Our anatomy makes us all human, but our differences make us individual people. Good Night all!

Something I Plan to do Each Summer from Now On
So as some of you know I will be leaving for Virginia in just a few days. I decided to make the trip a few months ago sort of on a whim to see if I could save up enough. The tickets are paid for, the days are approved, and the spending money is saved up. I'm ready to go! Then, I got to thinking "man, what if I could save up money each year and go somewhere I've never been", now that would be awesome! I've decided that I am (in my UQ's words) going to keep paying myself. I will from now on be taking trips each year to wherever I feel like going!:)

WATCH THIS! Especially if You Have CP!
Wednesday, May 1, 2013
Okay so here it is, I am so tired of seeing the ignorance, bigotry, hatred, and the simple stupidity of some people. I am cleaning out my Facebook. You claim to be a Christian but still you spread HATRED instead of LOVE and UNDERSTANDING. We as people are to be judged by our own higher power it isn't the place of our peers to pass judgement upon us. Family & and friends alike if you spend your time posting negative things and putting others down with your hatred and immaturity I will no longer subject myself to it. I do and will forever stand for the rights of all oppressed people. EQUALITY FOR ALL!

R.I.P
So, Yesterday was your birthday and I really didn't think of you much. Your chair is gone, but sometimes you are still here. I like to think that the reason I don't miss you so often anymore is because you've crossed from this world to the next. You were never perfect, but you were who you were. Without you there would be no me. You were at your best 'grandpa' wise for the last few years that you lived with us. I have good memories from that time and I will hold on to those. I love you grandpa!

To Teach or To Tell
So, today is National Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day! Woohoo! It's strange, but even I have a hard time asking people who are different from me what makes them so. This month I've learned that I should ask people questions about their differences the same way I would like to be asked about mine...with kindness and curiosity. I find that most people ask about my disability or why I walk the way I do because they don't know, but they would like to. I feel that we the disABLED should take it upon ourselves as the truly gifted individuals we are to TEACH the world of us instead of just TELLING. The only way one can learn is to ask the hard questions and seek the answers. As you speak to a person who is ignorant (uneducated) of the facts you must take the time to TEACH them those facts; we shouldn't just assume that they know them.

Enlightenment not Condemnation.
So, I've learned quite a few things as I've grown and matured. There will never be a time when everyone agrees with everthing you say, people will always disagree on things, and people and circumstances are walways changing. When you are speaking to people that have view on certian topics that are polar opposite to your own you need to approach that person ortopic with the idea that it is not really your job to completely change their way of thinking. It is your job to nudge them along the "mind changing path.". Take the course of ENIGHTENMENT not CONDEMNATION!

WTH Would I do w/o Social Networking and Internet?!??!
Wow I was just thinking about this yesterday! I am so totally connected at the hip with all my electronic devices because they are how I keep up with the ever changing world around me! You know I could probably read and study more without these devices: oh wait I can do both on my iPad, iPhone, or Laptop. Since I've started using Twitter again I have connected with so many different people it is so amazing! I used to think "oh you know this person is just some author, activist, world changer that I will never meet so you know whatever!" Now my view has totally changed I've met all those mentioned above and it is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! I've been able to reach people from everywhere and I love it! So yeah my life would be totally DIFFERENT if I was not as connected to the rest of the world as I am now! The phrase "ignorance is bliss" is now so backward to me! KNOWLEDGE AND CONNECTIONS ARE POWER! USE YOUR RESOURCES! They are aplenty!

The Story Behind the Tattoo
When I was little due to my Cerebral Palsy I was made fun of a lot. The stares and whispers still happen but not as often as they used to. I'm sure that anyone with/without a disability can relate in some way to the feeling of being ostracized. The teasing got me down, but I tell you my Auntie and my mom would never let anything hold me down for long! To cheer me up my Auntie used to send me giraffe related stuff with that she would always say "keep your head up just like a giraffe" so over time I developed a thing for the animal. My love for giraffes rekindled itself during my trip to Africa when we saw giraffes in "person" on our safari! Now as it always has the giraffe represents a certain Grace, COURAGE, and Strength to me. So I guess you could say that the giraffe is the mascot for my disability. That is why this tattoo is totally ME! It takes true COURAGE stand again after you've fallen the key is to do it anyway!

My Best Friend
So I haven't really made any posts about this person. Her name is Catherine Alison and she really is my best friend. We've known each other for QUITE some time now. She is like another sister to me really. She is the first person I call when I've got something going on. She won't answer the phone until about 1-2pm on most days because that girl loves her sleep. There really is truth in the old saying "opposites attract"' because she is a night owl and I am an early bird. We can be goofy and serious together. We make a pretty awesome duo if you ask me! Love ya girl you're irreplaceable!

Dara Maclean- Suitcases (awesome song for the new year)
How can you move when they're weighing you down
What can you do when you're tied to the ground, yeah
You carry your burdens, heavy like gravity
Just let them go now, there's freedom in release
You can't run when you're holding suitcases
It's a new day throw away your mistakes
And open up your heart, lay down your guard,
You don't have to be afraid
Just breathe, your load can be lifted
There's a better way when you know you're forgiven
Open up your heart, lay down your guard
You don't have to be afraid
Can you imagine what it's like to be free, ooh
Well, send those bags packing, they're not what you need, ooh
Abandon your troubles by the side of the street
Just let them go now, believe me
You can't run when you're holding suitcases
It's a new day throw away your mistakes
And open up your heart, lay down your guard,
You don't have to be afraid
Just breathe, your load can be lifted
There's a better way when you know you're forgiven
Open up your heart, lay down your guard
You don't have to be afraid
There's nothing holding you back now, just run
You can't run when you're holding suitcases
It's a new day throw away your mistakes
And open up your heart, lay down your guard,
You don't have to be afraid
Just breathe, your load can be lifted
There's a better way when you know you're forgiven
Open up your heart, lay down your guard
You don't have to be,
You don't have to be afraid
You don't have to be afraid
